На базе кафедры иностранных языков медицинского института РУДН был проведен межвузовский онлайн круглый стол на английском языке «Медицинский язык – уникальный лингвистический феномен / Medical Language – A Unique Linguistic Phenomenon».
В круглом столе приняли участие 169 студентов РУДН, 15 преподавателей Медицинского института РУДН, 27 иностранных студентов из других вузов. Были приглашены зарубежные участники из стран СНГ: Армении, Грузии, Узбекистана, Казахстана, Украины, Белоруссии; а также студенты из дальнего зарубежья: Турции, США, Пакистана, Финляндии.
Студенты представили свои проекты в форме групповых и индивидуальных презентаций. Представленные сообщения охватили следующие блоки информации: эмпатическая коммуникация врач-пациент, этиология названия медицинских заболеваний, их изменение по мере развития медицинских знаний и новых технологий, классификация ран и травм, особенности и трудности медицинских сокращений, латинские заимствования, лингвистические аспекты языка медицины (межъязыковые омонимы, прагматика медицинских терминов, фразеологизмы, крылатые выражения), а также трудности перевода медицинских терминов, медицинская терминология в масс-медиа, художественной литературе и медицинский жаргон.
Круглый стол способствовал формированию профессионально ориентированной иноязычной коммуникативной компетенции в области лингвистики и межкультурной коммуникации.
Online round table in English «Medical Language – A Unique Linguistic Phenomenon»
February 17, 2023 – Foreign Languages Department (RUDN Institute of Medicine) hosted an intra-university online round table in English “Medical Language – A Unique Linguistic Phenomenon”.
Foreign participants from CIS countries (Armenia, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Belarus), and students from far abroad (Turkey, USA, Pakistan, and Finland) took part at the round table as listeners. In total, the round table was attended by 169 participants: 127 students and 15 professors from RUDN Institute of Medicine, 27 international students from different educational institutions.
The key topic of the event was the linguistic analysis of the «MEDICINE» concept sphere. The goal of the round table on forming professionally oriented foreign language communicative competence of students of RUDN Institute of Medicine was achieved. The tasks were solved by considering medical terms functioning that make up the «MEDICINE» concept sphere within the framework of learning a foreign language for special purposes.
Practical implementation: group and individual presentations. Presented reports dealt with the following blocks of information: empathic doctor-patient communication, etiology of medical disease names, changing them with the development of medical knowledge and new technologies, classification of wounds and injuries, peculiarities and difficulties of medical abbreviations, Latin borrowings, linguistic aspects of medical language (interlingual homonyms, pragmatics of medical terms, phraseology, winged expressions), difficulties of medical terms translation, medical terminology in mass media, fiction literature and medical jargon.
The round table contributed to forming the professionally oriented foreign language communicative competence in the field of linguistics and intercultural communication.
