The Foreign Languages Department at the Patrice Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia recently organized an online roundtable titled «Medicine as a Science and Art.»
A total of 33 participants attended the event, which was conducted in English. The primary goal was to enhance students’ sociocultural competence and professional-oriented foreign language communication skills within the Institute of Medicine.
The roundtable focused on various cultural and artistic aspects related to foreign language learning for special purposes, alongside discussions on the historical cultural ties between Russia and English-speaking countries.
Practical outcomes included the presentation of eight reports through both group and individual presentations, aiding in the development of participants’ competencies in linguistics and intercultural communication. As a result, attendees successfully cultivated their sociocultural awareness and linguistic skills pertinent to their professional fields.
