From September 11 to 12, 2026, Moscow hosted the 1st Interregional Interdisciplinary Congress with International Participation «Anesthesiology and Intensive Care in Obstetrics and Gynecology: Clinical Decisions and Practical Skills,» dedicated to the memory of the outstanding clinician and mentor Gennady Viktorovich Filippovich. The large-scale event was organized by the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region, the Krasnopolsky Moscow Regional Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology (MONIIAG), the International Association for the Reduction of Maternal and Infant Mortality, and the Association of Anesthesiologists and Intensive Care Physicians. The congress brought together about 500 federal and international leaders and experts from 6 countries.
As part of this prestigious scientific event, faculty members from the Foreign Languages Department of the Institute of Medicine hosted a roundtable in English titled «Life Expectancy of Russian Citizens: New Challenges of Our Time.» The session’s program covered a wide range of pressing interdisciplinary topics: from the implementation of telemedicine technologies and overcoming language barriers to ensure patient safety, to the neurolinguistic aspects of speech alteration caused by brain pathologies. Special attention was paid to the role of effective communication in medicine, the development of soft skills in post-graduate students, and non-standard educational approaches—such as using medical cartoons and memes as tools for intercultural interaction and increasing the motivation of future physicians.
The roundtable generated high interest among the attendees, demonstrating the crucial importance of integrating linguistic and communicative competences into modern healthcare practice to address global medical challenges.
