The Institute of Medicine of the RUDN – University named after Patrice Lumumba presented innovative developments in the field of medical rehabilitation and personal identification at the Army-2024 forum. Apresyan Samvel (Professor, Honored Inventor of the Russian Federation, Director of the Institute of Digital Dentistry of MI RUDN) said that a new 3D program for manufacturing facial prostheses was presented, which allows to create prostheses without the physical presence of the patient, using only the data of computer tomography of the head.

The program is designed to optimize the process of rehabilitation of patients after oncological surgeries, facial shrapnel wounds and congenital facial defects, significantly reducing the time and discomfort inherent in traditional methods. The prostheses are made of biocompatible materials that have passed all necessary studies and can be used by the patient for a long period of time.
The concept of digital personal identification was also presented, aimed at creating full digital avatars of people, primarily military personnel, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Security Service. Artificial intelligence, having access to these avatars, will be able to identify remains even by a single tooth, significantly reducing the time and cost of the identification process compared to traditional methods based on DNA examination.
The technologies presented at the forum demonstrate significant progress in the field of medical rehabilitation and personal identification, allowing for more effective assistance to victims and efficient identification of remains. The opening of the University stand was also attended by the Rector of the University Oleg Yastrebov, who emphasized the importance of the development and implementation of new technologies to address current challenges in the field of occupational health and safety.
